CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS Conflict, Justice, Decolonization: Critical Studies on Inter-Asian Society Project

2020-03-05

The Conflict, Justice, Decolonization: Critical Studies on Inter-Asian Society Project aims to encourage current students to participate in a collaborative academic project under the general theme of Conflict, Justice, and Decolonization, with different perspectives and different sub-projects. The project has been ongoing for almost two years with the contribution of graduate students from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, India, Palestine, Spain, Belgium, Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan—making possible the exchange of knowledge and experiences among international and local students outside the confines of the classroom and beyond classroom discussions. More than 30 articles addressing various topics have been published, and an archive with links to distinguished websites relevant to students’ work has been built. All these materials have been displayed on a website created by the students participating in the project. The website serves as a platform to grant visibility to our students and as a showcase for ICCS and its M.A. and Ph.D. programs. Link to the website: http://iics.blog.nctu.edu.tw/

Under the theme “conflict, justice, and decolonization”, interested contributors could submit an academic essay, a book review or movie/documentary review, etc. Feel free to be creative with your writing, but keep in mind the conventions of academic writing. The length should be 2,000-3,000 words for English articles, and 3,000-4,500 characters for articles written in Mandarin.

Selected articles will be published on the CJD website. Inasmuch as we would like to extend our network of contributors beyond the Institute for Cultural Research and Cultural Studies and Inter-Asia Cultural Studies, we are unable to compensate for articles by contributors from other institutions. For reasons of encouraging and supporting students from our own institution, authors of selected articles who are SRCS and IACS students will be awarded 4,000 NTD per article.

HOW TO APPLY

For each submission, interested contributors are requested to fill out the application form provided by ICCS. Link to the application form: https://forms.gle/CsL49aMF5PwdkxPr6

The length of the abstracts should be 300-400 words in English or 450-600 characters in Mandarin. FULL-TEXT ARTICLE IS NOT REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION. For any questions or inquiries, please contact us at iccs.cjdproject@gmail.com.
