Multispecies Family and Transnational Care

Principle Investigator：LAI, Francisca Yuen-Ki

In Hong Kong, 9 out of every 100 households own cats or dogs. During the 2019 wave of migration, what happened to the fate of these companion animals? When humans chose to migrate with their companion animals, what values are reflected in the process of relocation? This research project explores how humans and their companion animals influence and interact with each other during the process of transnational migration. A multispecies perspective is crucial for enriching discussions on transnational care in family and migration studies.
