This project focuses on process film and the high awareness of the relationship between inorganic matter and natural ecology in the process of manual production of images, as well as ecological issues in film production, including homemade purification technology for climate and wastewater discharge. Through alternative photographic methods and sustainable negative material image production, it constructs a moving image system of human will (manual process), non-human actors (natural species) and celluloid simulation technology (film replacement), and focuses on how inorganic matter and organic matter cooperate in film form, that is, film is not just an image that reproduces narrative scenes, but a recording process of “cooperation” between people and the environment.
The project includes three paths: experiments in alternative photographic technology, film practice in cooperation with the ecological environment, and the construction of a sustainable darkroom, towards an image practice that coexists with non-humans and has more potential and more ecological thinking.
