佛洛伊德不僅開創了精神分析的知識，也開啟了關於主體與語言的不同理解模式，以致於當代文化理論從不同面向回顧佛洛伊德，而展開了不同的理論地景。這門課的設計宗旨在於重新閱讀佛洛伊德思想的政治性──包括美學、倫理或是文化社會等面向。
由於我們持續面對當代世界的族群衝突以及戰爭暴力的問題，因此這門課程的進行將由戰爭出發，但是朝向陰性政治的思考靠近。循此規劃之目的，這門課將有兩個思想運動的路徑：首先我們將從佛洛伊德對於重複性原則與死亡欲力的詮釋，進行對於暴力政治以及認同問題的探討；其次，我們將重返超越快樂原則的重複衝動，探討政治的不同面向以及創造性的可能。
討論議題的安排上，我們會側重關於群體心理、國家形式、疆界、戀物機制、象徵法則、陰性特質等問題。我們將從佛洛伊德的基本精神分析觀念出發，例如創傷經驗、重複衝動、死亡欲力、生命欲力、群體心理學、無意識、性學、夢的解析、防衛機制、症狀形成、陰性氣質、戀物等，以便銜接當代基進政治之文化批判理論。我們的目的在於討論當代基進政治思想如何持續受到佛洛伊德的啟發，以及如何對於佛洛伊德進行重讀，包括巴岱伊(Georges Bataille)、阿多諾(Theodor Adorno)、拉岡(Jacques Lacan)、阿圖塞(Louis Althusser)、巴里巴(Étienne Balibar)、德希達(Jacques Derrida)、拉庫拉巴特(Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe)、儂曦(Jean-Luc Nancy) 與克莉絲蒂娃(Julia Kristeva)等。
備註：
1. 課程進行方式以教師講授為主，配合開放討論以及修課同學的小組報告。
2. 這門課程的每週閱讀材料限制於1－2篇文章，並以中文譯本為主。我們可以另外提供英文譯本，以供同學查閱。參考資料是為博士班同學所設計，歡迎博班同學主動認領報告，當然我們也鼓勵碩士班同學選讀。
3. 參考資料中的期刊論文，多半可以在交大浩然圖書館的電子資料庫Project Muse, Jstor 或是其他電子期刊資料庫下載PDF檔案或是閱讀HTML版本。同學們可以利用這些資料庫搜尋更多相關論文。

3. 期末報告（碩士班：8千字左右；博士班：1萬2千字左右）: 第八週繳交期末報告題目及研究問題；第十二週繳交大綱及書目；第十八週提出口頭報告；學期結束後二週內繳交完整論文。(佔總分百分之七十)
