設計宗旨

視覺文化是目前文化研究學界相當重要的研究領域，視覺理論亦成為一門新興的學問。我們必須面對如何討論文化文本中視覺圖像的構成符碼與背後論述機制的問題，也要討論觀看者如何被修辭系統定位，閱讀者如何理解與討論閱讀中的視覺經驗。

本門課之設計便是以視覺符號背後的意識形態系統、視覺符號的後結構詮釋、視覺符號的精神分析以及視覺符號的文化現象四個向度出發，安排經典文本之閱讀，以便協助學生建立並發展視覺理論，同時依此重讀文學、繪畫、電影、攝影文本。

  1. 對此單元選定之文章做一摘要，以便上網
  2. 另選一篇同作者之文章，對照閱讀討論，以便呈現該理論的系統脈絡
  3. 提供文章中所討論之圖片，並於上課之前掃描上網，以便於上課時討論說明此視覺理論如何應用於此圖像之中

二、期末報告（一萬二千字到一萬五千字），以網路呈現，並公開報告：

  1. 第八週決定研究材料，於網路上公佈
  2. 第十週完成圖片掃描上網
  3. 第十一週將書目上網
  4. 第十二週將大綱上網
  5. 第十六週將全文上網
