The roots here may represent the rules or tradition that restrain women and force women to keep quiet all the time. Furthermore, the place where the woman lies are very muddy. The mud makes the woman to stay in the same position, in other words, it forces wowen to walk fast or far away from the world which men are in charge of. name: Senior Nicole Wu 482200599 comment: Kahlo, "Roots" 31, April, 1997 為什麼許多畫家筆下,總會把"女人"和"植物"聯結起來?究竟這兩者 之間有何關聯性呢?Kahlo的"Roots"讓我不禁聯想到"大地之母", 不論是史前文化或是某些原住民文化中,特別是以女性為主的母系 社會體系下,認為大地萬物是由一位特別的女性所孕育而成的, Kahol 的靈感是否來自於此,我們不得而知.但我認為由於植物能夠 生長,開花結果,繁衍生命,一如女人和男人生理上最大不同點,即在 於女人有繁衍後代的 能力,因此女人與植物常被相提並論.若如此, Kahlo可說是替女人的 "功能性"下了一番註解.
