Media Infrastructure of War and Political Propaganda

Principle Investigator:Lawrence Yang

Yang’s current research focuses on propaganda media industries in cold war Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China. His broader research interests cover war and militarism, theories of materialism, and the industrial-technological histories of media, architecture, and infrastructure. At NYCU, he is collaborating with other scholars from law, management, and STS in the development of a new curriculum on the culture of platform, algorithm, and  gamification. Yang is currently completing a book manuscript titled Speculative Statecraft: Logistical Media and the Culture of the Chinese Cold War.
