【Speaker】

Tak-Wing Ngo is Professor of Political Science at the University of Macau. He received his PhD from SOAS London and works on the political economy of East Asia. He previously taught at Leiden University and Erasmus University Rotterdam, and is currently the editor of China Information and co-editor of the Journal of Contemporary Asia.

【Abstract】

This book talk presents the major findings and arguments in the recently published Cambridge Element that underlines the central role of China in the global shadow economy. Besides discussing the political economy of transnational mass smuggling by ordinary people, the talk will also present follow-up research on grey governance and infrastructural politics at border checkpoints.
