Conditions, Difficulties, and Possible Futures of Migrant Workers: Roundtable Discussion

2018-12-22

Conditions, Difficulties, and Possible Futures of Migrant Workers: Roundtable Discussion

Transnational migration of labours has become more common under global capital flow. Yet due to the differences in systems, legal frameworks, and other factors, migrant workers of different sectors in / from different countries are under different conditions. ICCS is inviting various NGOs working for / with migrant workers in Taiwan to share with us the difficulties migrant workers face in Taiwan, and their thoughts on the possible futures. We are also inviting Sudarat Musikawong, a Thai expert in transnational migration of labours, and Jongman Choi, a Korean documentary filmmaker who has been documenting migrant workers’ movements, to share with us the conditions of transnational migration of labours in Thailand and Korea respectively.

The roundtable discussion is part of our series of migrant workers-related activities. We hope this event will gather the experiences of different NGOs, identify urgent matters that need to be solved, propose possible solutions, and facilitate future collaboration.

Date: 22 December 2018 (Saturday)
Venue: Room 204, HA Building 2, National Chiao Tung University

**Simultaneous Mandarin-English translation will be provided**
