  • Participate in APC events and present one public lecture per year
  • Contribute to curriculum development on Taiwan studies by teaching or co-teaching one course per year related to their area of research, which may take the form of an undergraduate class on Taiwan with a social science or international relations focus or a graduate proseminar in conjunction with the lecture series

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. degree or equivalent from an accredited university conferred by the start of the fellowship
  • Applicants must demonstrate strong research, organizational, and communication skills
  • Citizens from any country are eligible for this fellowship
  • Academics who are permanently employed in full-time, tenure-track positions are not eligible to apply

Application Guidelines
Applications should be submitted through the APC online application form. All application materials must be received by June 1, 2023. Materials required to complete the electronic application include:

  • A cover letter that includes a research statement (e.g., doctoral dissertation research and future research), teaching and/or administrative experience, and planned activities at UCLA

  • Proposed research project title and description (up to 1,500 words)
  • An article-length writing sample in English (e.g., a published journal article/book chapter, or a dissertation chapter)
  • Three letters of recommendation

This is a 12-month paid position with the possibility of an extension for an additional two years. The salary range is $60,000 to $71,952, depending on experience, and health coverage is included. Office space, and access to a computer, the UC library system, and other facilities available to members of the UCLA community will also be provided. UCLA is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer. UCLA values diversity among its students, staff and faculty, and strongly encourages applications from women and underrepresented minorities. The final selection will be announced in June 2023.
