at Conflict, Justice, Decolonization: Asia in Transition in the 21st Century (CJD)

 

About the role:

Conflict, Justice, Decolonization: Asia in Transition in the 21st Century (CJD) is a student-led online journal of the MOE SPROUT Project led by the International Center for Cultural Studies (ICCS-NYCU). It is a digital platform project that aims at encouraging graduate students to act as public intellectuals in the spirit of literary communism and the free association of young scholars from around the world. CJD strongly encourages applications from individuals of all cultural backgrounds. 

 

CJD is currently seeking new editorial members. The position offers a rewarding and fulfilling experience, with the opportunity to collaborate with a team of international backgrounds and diverse cultures, build your academic networks, develop and promote your research, and gain experience in event organization, teamwork, and editorial practices.

Requirements: 

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a master’s or Ph.D. program (Ph.D. students preferred) in arts, humanities, or social sciences. 

  • Bilingual proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese.

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a Taiwanese university. Preference will be given to graduate students from the Institute of Social Research and Cultural Studies (SRCS) or the International Program of Inter-Asia Cultural Studies (UST).

  • Experience related to school administration, event organizing, and social media management is a plus. 

 

Ethical Guidelines:

  • Demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility. 

  • Commit to teamwork and collaboration.

  • Uphold ethical professional and editorial standards.

  • Possess no history of harassment or research misconduct.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Review, modify, and proofread submitted articles.

  • Review at least one article from a fellow team member each semester.

  • Submit at least one article in English or Chinese each semester.

  • Collaborate in writing the Call for Papers each semester.

  • Oversee or assist with the editorial process of booklet publication.

  • Manage email correspondence with authors efficiently.

  • Support author remuneration processes.

  • Initiate, organize, or assist with events, including administrative work and reimbursements.

  • Attend and contribute to online editorial meetings as needed and work closely with other editors.

 

Responsibilities will be shared among team members and are open to negotiation, emphasizing a flexible and cooperative working approach.

 

Work Duration and Attendance: 

  • The role will primarily operate during the academic semester. Please maintain close communication with team members regarding the working timeline of each task.

  • Most responsibilities will be conducted online. Physical presence at the event venue or university is required only for events and specific administrative tasks.

 

Employment period:

  • The appointment is for one semester, renewable every semester, subject to mutual agreement.

  • The successful candidates are expected to begin their role formally in May 2026.

 

Salaries:

  • Stipends during the first semester (May-July 2026) will be NTD 5,000/month (inclusive of insurance and tax). 

  • Subsequent semesters (starting from September 2026) will offer NTD 10,000/month (inclusive of insurance and tax). 

  • Please note that a valid work permit is required for non-Taiwanese applicants.

  • Application deadline is April 10, 2026. This vacancy may close earlier than the advertised deadline if a high volume of applications is received. 

  • Online interviews with the shortlisted candidates will be held on April 15-25, 2026.
