The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) is promoting the "Taiwanese Overseas Pioneers Grants (TOP Grants)." The program aims to support outstanding doctoral candidates and young scholars in the fields of humanities and social sciences (HSS) who are currently studying or working abroad, assisting them in further deepening their research and accumulating achievements within the international academic environment, while expanding their future connections with the Taiwanese academic community.
The application categories and grant details for this year are as follows:
Eligibility: Full-time doctoral candidate in an overseas HSS department. Must be enrolled at an overseas university recognized by Taiwan's MOE and have obtained doctoral candidate status before the application deadline. (Recommendation materials from the dissertation supervisor are required).
Grant Details: Upon passing the academic review, each recipient will be awarded an NT$900K Grant for a grant period of 1 year.
Eligibility: PhD conferred within the past 10 years. Applicants must be current full-time faculty or researchers below the rank of Full Professor at an overseas HSS institution. (Institutional endorsement is required).
Grant Details: Upon passing the academic review, each recipient will be awarded an NT$600K Grant for a grant period of 1 year. Additionally, a + NT$200K publication bonus may be applied for upon obtaining a book contract.
General Requirements: Must hold Taiwan (R.O.C.) nationality and a bachelor's degree from a university in Taiwan.
Grant Timeline: 1-year grant beginning September 1 or December 1.
