Principle Investigator:Qinruo Guo
The project studies the art history of Manchukoku, particularly the Japanese colonial policies on art, to understand how the East Asian modernity is embedded in the nationalist consciousness of Manchukoku. It also looks at how the experience of Manchukoku was remembered and rearticulated after the establishment of the People’s Republic and especially in the era of China’s rise.
