《愛之船：台灣》 LOVE BOAT: TAIWAN

 

蘇導演的《愛之船：台灣》(2019) 紀錄台灣「海外華裔青年暑期返國研習團」與其年輕學員們之故事。六〇年代的國民黨政府為了推動國際的文化交流，開辦具有政治意味的營隊，後來因成為不少台灣裔美國年輕人尋找愛情的機會，而有了「愛之船」的暱稱。《愛之船：台灣》探討此年輕學員們七〇、八〇年代之經驗與記憶，以及台灣之國際「軟實力」與政治位置。

 

Director Soe’s LOVE BOAT: TAIWAN (2019) retraces the story of the Expatriate Youth Language and Study Tour, a summer abroad program set up by the Taiwan KMT government in the 1960s to promote cultural exchange. Gaining popularity in the 1970s and 80s, the program became best known by its nickname “Taiwan Love Boat” because of its reputation as an opportunity for young travelers, and especially Taiwanese Americans, to find love. LOVE BOAT: TAIWAN explores the memories and experiences of the young people on this program, and their wider connections to Taiwan’s “soft power” and its place in the international arena. 

 

講者簡介 Speaker biography

蘇杏娟身兼導演、裝置與影片藝術家、教授。自從1986年的ALL ORIENTALS LOOK THE SAME實驗影片開始，作品榮獲多個國際獎項。目前於舊金山州立大學亞裔美國研究所教授亞裔美國電影、藝術與媒體製作，研究範圍包括性別、藝術與社會運動之議題。蘇導演也編寫beyondasiaphilia.com之部落格，探討亞裔美國研究、藝術、文化與社會運動。

 

Professor Valerie Soe is a filmmaker, installation and video artist, and scholar of Asian American studies. Beginning with her undergraduate experimental video “ALL ORIENTALS LOOK THE SAME” (1986), her works have consistently received international recognition, winning dozens of awards worldwide. Currently based at the San Francisco State University Department of Asian American Studies, she writes and teaches on Asian American film, art, and media production, with research interests spanning issues of gender, art and activism, and transnational and diasporic perspectives. Along with an extensive list of publications on these topics, she is also the author of the blog beyondasiaphilia.com, which explores Asian American art, culture, and activism.

 

冷戰與台韓文學中的越戰 The Cold War and the Vietnam War in Taiwanese and Korean Literature

演講簡介

冷戰期間爆發的越南戰爭（第二次印度支那戰爭，1955-1975）是南北越之間的內戰，同時也是資本主義與共産主義兩大陣營的代理戰爭。台灣和韓國都曾派出軍事顧問團或作戰部隊參與越戰。本次演講將以此為出發點，介紹台韓兩國文學裡所反映的越戰樣貌以及對其的認知。

 

講者簡介

崔末順，韓國人，政治大學臺灣文學研究所教授。研究領域為臺灣和韓國的近現代文學。著有《海島與半島：日據臺韓文學比較》（2013）、《殖民與冷戰下的台灣文學》（2019）、《殖民與冷戰的東亞視野：對臺韓文學的一個觀察》（2021），並在臺主編出版有《吹過星星的風―韓國小說大家經典代表作．戰前篇》（2020）、《誰能說自己看見天空―韓國小說大家經典代表作．戰後篇》（2021）等書；在韓編著出版有《運動．制度．殖民性―臺灣的近代文學1-3》（2013）三冊研究叢書及朱西甯小說集《狼》（2013）的譯作。
