當今主流論述將許多歐洲各國、美國、菲律賓等國之極端政治人物的取得政治權力，視為民粹主義（Populism）的崛起、民粹主義者（Populist）的出現等現象，然而講者認為這種理解僅是表面而不深入的，這些現象反而是法西斯主義（fascism），並且為透過普選（general election）形式之民主過程所誕生或取得權力，而這個問題源自當今市場民主（market democracy）。
