Throughout multiple regions and the historical conditions it evolves from, this publication attempts to reflect on how the network of people’s theater in inter-Asian societies continues to develop from time to time. With the complex praxis and aesthetic formation that continues to inform the nature of its theatrical practices, the discussion focuses on how the practitioners and artists in different communities strived to open various political spaces: either within the authoritarian regime or the neoliberal societies and its experimentations with diverse aesthetics and local subjects to address its political conditions. By centering upon the texts by the practitioners and researchers, the discussion will dissect further into the practices of people’s theater network as well as how it has appeared in its diverse form.
